Sport Morgans and Sport Morgan Ponies - in color!

Tribute to Figure and Justin Morgan
| This is the memorial at the
foot of the logging road, actually it was the old road
to the farm where Figure died. It is not located where
he died or was "disposed of" as that is private property
and the owners didn't want the traffic. Story has it
that Figures body was unceremoniously dumped down a hill
to a gully where other animals were similarly disposed
of. You may recall that his true fame, typically, did
not come until after his death. |
| This road, and the
continuation now covered by snow but delineated by the sharp
banks, was the final road home for Figure. Figure would
have shouldered his burden along this road as part of a team
of six. The hill and gully where he was cast after his
death is to the right of this road. The monument shown
above would be behind you and to your right if you stood
where this picture was taken. |

There
really is a road called Morgan mile and it is what remains
of the road where Justin Morgan lived in Randolph and where
the real races with Figure took place. |
| This is Justin Morgans grave in
Randolph, VT. His original headstone is said to be at the
Morgan Horse Museum. |
